Digitalization of Cognitive Intervention in the Elderly: Exploring the Benefits and Challenges
J Cogn Interv Digital Health. 2023 Jun;2(1):1-9 전문보기

Abstract

Digital cognitive interventions have the potential to revolutionize the way we approach cognitive training and rehabilitation in older adults. These interventions involve the use of technology, such as computer or web-based programs, mobile apps, and virtual reality, to improve cognitive function and promote brain health. Recently, the evidence for the effectiveness of digital cognitive intervention therapy in the elderly has been gradually increasing. This approach can improve access to care, increase patient engagement and compliance, and offer personalized interventions that can be tailored to the individual’s needs and abilities. On the other hand, there are also disadvantages to this method, such as limited social interaction, technology barriers, lack of individualized attention and support, and privacy and security concerns. Nevertheless, the future of digital cognitive intervention in older people is promising, as digital technologies have the potential to improve cognitive function, prevent cognitive decline, and promote brain health in this population by maximizing the effect while compensating for the shortcomings of existing traditional cognitive intervention.
